Edit Holdings and Transactions Overview

The purpose of this lesson is to provide an overview of how to edit a holding, edit a transaction, add a purchase and add a sale to an existing holding in Portfolios.

How to Edit a Holding

Editing a client's holding details can be done via the Position page in Portfolios. 

Editing a client's holding details can be done via the Position page in Portfolios. (Please note, this step will illustrate how to edit the holding details such as an investment reinvestment percentage or policy number. Editing a Transaction such as the number of units purchased will be covered after this lesson.)

 

To access the Holding Details for a Position:

  1. In the client navigation menu, locate and click on Portfolios. The menu will expand. 

  2. Click on Portfolio. The menu options will expand. 

  3. Click on The menu options will expand. 

 

To edit the Holding Details for a Position:

  1. Select the Entity for the holding you need to edit.

  2. It is important to ensure you select No Aggregate whenever you need to edit the holding details.
  3. Select the Account the holding you need to edit is held under. In the example we have selected "View All".
  4. Click on the Action Arrow for the holding you are editing and a submenu will appear.

  5. Click on Edit holding details for Position. You will be taken to the Holding Details pop up screen for the investment you are editing.



  6. Edit the details in this screen as required. In this example we have entered 100% in the Reinvestment Percentage field as the client now participates in the Dividend Reinvestment Plan. 

  7. Click Save after you have edited the details as required. 

 

How to Edit a Transaction for a Holding

Editing a transaction for an existing holding in a client's portfolio can be done via Transactions page. In some instances it is easier to locate the holding for the transaction you need to edit via the Position screen first.

This demonstration will illustrate how to edit a transaction from the holding in the Position page.

 

To access the Holding Details for a Position:

  1. In the client navigation menu, locate and click on Portfolios. The menu will expand. 

  2. Click on Portfolio. The menu options will expand. 

  3. Click on The menu options will expand. 

 

To access the Transaction Details for a Position:

  1. Select the Entity for the holding you need to edit. 

  2. Select the Account the holding you need to edit is held under. In the example we have selected "View All". 

  3. Click on the Action Arrow for the holding you are editing and a submenu will appear. 

  4. Click on View Transactions for the holding. In this example we would click on "View Transactions for MBLCCMH.CASH". You will be taken to the Transaction page in Portfolios. 

  5. You are now in the Transaction Screen for this holding. 



  6. Select the Date Range for the transactions you wish view for the selected holding.

    You can also click on the drop down arrow and select from various options such as "from inception". All transactions will appear in the portfolio Transactions panel that occurred in the selected Date Range. 

  7. Locate and click on the Action Arrow for the transaction you need to edit. A submenu will appear. 

    Click on Edit Transaction. A pop up screen will appear for where the transaction was. In this instance the "Purchase" screen. 

 

Editing the Transaction

  1. Edit the transaction as required.

    In this example we have edited the number of units purchased from 4841460 to 5000000. Be sure you click on the Gross Amount icon to update the dollar amount. 

  2. Click Save once you have finished editing the transaction. 

  3. You will see the transaction has now been updated.

 

Removing a Transaction 

Ensure you are in the Transaction screen (not the position screen) before performing this function.

  1. Click on the Action Arrow beside the transaction you need to remove. A submenu will appear. 

  2. Click on Remove Transaction
     

Warning: This action cannot be undone.

 

Changing the Status of a Transaction:

  1. Click on the down arrow beside the transaction you need to update. A submenu will appear. 

  2. Click on Set Status for this Transaction. Another submenu will appear. 

  3. Click on the required status such as "Actual" to update the Transaction Status.
