Model Overview
The purpose of this guide is to providing instructions on how to apply a Model Portfolio (Target Set) as a recommendation in XPLAN. A Target Set consists of a selection of securities and the recommended weighting for each security.
Model Portfolios can be applied to a client's portfolio using Target Sets. Target Sets creates a proposed portfolio using a saved model portfolio that can be applied as a percentage of the total portfolio.
There are two screens you will use when modelling a clients portfolio using Target Sets. You can access these screens via the menu options in Portfolios > Model:
How to Access the Model Screens
While accessing a client:
- In the left hand Navigation Menu, click Portfolios > Model > Model
- The Model screen will display.
Model Modes
The Model screen can be viewed in two different modes:

Basic Mode - Use the basic mode when modelling a target set to a single account This method also allows for simple transfers of holdings between portfolio accounts.

Advanced Mode - Use the advanced mode for more advanced modelling, blending target sets on a single or multiple accounts.
Create a Target Set
When adding target holdings to a Target Set, the current asset allocation of the Target Set is displayed in the Compare section. The asset allocation for a selected risk profile is also shown in the Compare section, allowing you to compare the Target Set asset allocation to the risk profile.
