Portfolio (IPS) - IPS Admin: Transfer Holdings

Transfer Holdings Overview

The purpose of this guide is to provide instructions on transferring portfolio holdings. Holdings held by clients can be transferred between their Portfolio Accounts, or even to a different client.

How to Transfer Holdings

To access the Transfer Holdings screen:

  • In the client navigation menu, locate and click on Portfolios. The menu will expand. 

  • Click on Portfolio. The menu options will expand. 
  • Click on Admin > Transfer Holdings. 




  • Select the product/s to transfer by either selecting a specific holding or using Edit Sources. These are explained below;
    1. The Investment Code and Exchange’ of the product (or click the search icon to search for the product). This way you will be only transferring the holding entered.
    2. Click Edit Sources to display a list of all holdings in the current Source Portfolio if you want to transfer more than one unit. Tick the holdings to be transferred.

      These instructions will use method (1) from the above.
  • Under the Source section, select the Portfolio, Account with the duplicate holding, as well as the Investment Code and Exchange. You may use the Search button to locate the holding within the portfolio.
     

  • Under the Destination section, select the Portfolio, Account with the duplicate holding, as well as the Investment Code and Exchange.



  • Set the Transfer Holding Details.
    • Transfer Holding Details - Select to ‘Keep Existing Position Details’ or ‘Replace Existing Position Details’. This will affect the Holding Details for the position ID.
    • Reapply Corporate Actions - During the transfer, existing corporate actions will be lost. Select whether corporate actions should be reapplied after transfer.
    • Remove Datafeed Links - Transactions from datafeeds have external IDs to allow for updating of transaction information. This setting can remove these external IDs preventing a Datafeed from modifying transactions that have been transferred. This setting is important when transferring holdings between platforms.
    • CGT Optimization - Select if CGT Optimisation should be applied, and if so what type.

  • Click Transfer.
  • Navigate back to Portfolio > Position to confirm that they merge completed successfully.
