XPLAN Implementation Guide - Preferences and Customisation: Edit a Users Password

Edit a Users Password Overview

XPLAN Champions will be the only users in the practice with the ability to edit user's passwords. This lesson provides instruction on how to edit a Password for an existing User

 

Why do I need to edit a Password?

You will need to edit a Password when the user can not remember their Password and hence the Password is required to be reset. Users are unable to modify their own password using the following procedure.

 

How do i edit the Password for a User?

  1. Click on the down arrow that appears within the Quick Search box
  2. Click on Users. This will ensure that when using the Quick Search box, the system will search through the User listing.

You should now see Users appear within the Search box.

This means that when you search using this Quick Search box, you will be searching the User listing. Type your search criteria into the Quick Search box and click the magnifying glass or Enter on your keyboard.

You will then be provided with the search results that meet your criteria.

Click on the name of the User that requires the Password change.

Click on Access in the left hand menu.

Click the Edit button.

Enter the new Password into the two fields ensuring the Password is entered exactly the same within both fields.

Passwords in XPLAN must be between 8 and 12 characters, contact at least two character types (upper case, lower case, numeral or other characters), and new passwords must differ from the previous two password changes.

Passwords are not to be emailed to offices/users but are supplied over the phone. The individual users are then prompted to change their passwords on first login by the 'force password change' function in XPLAN. You will notice that when you enter data into these fields, the Do not change password tick box becomes 'unticked'. This ensures the new password is saved.

 

Important Note: Please ensure that the new Password meets the Security Requirements.

 

If a user has attempted to enter an incorrect password 3 times their account will be deactivated. To release a deactivated account please contact the helpdesk to have this account released.

 

Password Reset Questions and Answers

It is important to set some secure questions, so that you can reset your password just in case you forget your password or are locked out. 

This will ensure you can get back to work sooner without needing to wait for one or our representatives to reset your password.
