In conjunction with the use of a Third party SMS provider, XPLAN has the capability to send SMS emails directly to one or multiple clients mobile phones as plain text messages. Practices are to email the helpdesk to add their SMS gateway to XPLAN to enable SMS functionality. Once you have an arrangement with a third party provider you will need to contact the Adviser Platform Support (Helpdesk) to have your SMS Gateway added to the system settings (only helpdesk have the capacity to do this).
Once this step has been completed the XPLAN Champion can enter the gateweay to each relevant user by following the below steps.
Note: Your practice will need to research and select an appropriate third party SMS provider and subscribe to their services. Costs will vary among third party SMS providers. Without the use of a third party gateway, the SMS function within XPLAN will not have the capacity to send SMS messages. |
Most SMS providers will limit the size of messages sent. The system will automatically split lengthy email messages into two SMS messages and your SMS account will be charged accordingly.
SMS in XPLAN utilises a specific contact type of SMS Email.
To set up SMS Email contact details for your clients:

The above are just examples of businesses that offer this service, you are responsible for finding a service provider that is a fit for your business.
When you have selected a provider, you will need to inform WealthAxis of the provider and the provider domain. The domain will be provided to you by the provider. You will need to send the Domain and any other relevant details to WealthAxis Support so the connection can be set up in XPLAN.
The SMS Gateway entered must then be linked to particular users who will be utilising the SMS function. This gateway can be added to a user by navigating to User Functions > Administer Users from the Home menu.
From the user list select the user you wish to allocate the SMS gateway to.
Important Note: The number of users that can be linked to an SMS gateway is limited to the number of subscriptions or licenses purchased from the provider/s. |

The last part of setting up the SMS functionality is to assign the user that will be sending the SMS to the SMS Gateway. This is done in the User account in XPLAN. Please contact WealthAxis support to have this set up.
