Send the Xplan Datafeed Set Up Request Form – Long V2 template located here (insert box link) to the Adviser and request they complete columns A-G. This will advise you which datafeeds need to be set up.
Once received back, save in clients Box folder.
In Xplan, click on the Help menu
On the left click XPLAN Help – Datafeeds – System Datafeeds – System Datafeed Set Up Addendum
This addendum lists each provider and the instructions on how to set up each datafeed.
Scroll down until you find the provider you need. Read the instructions to see what you need to do.
For example – BT Wrap
Scroll down, then click on the BT Wrap hyperlink:
The instructions say that an email needs to be sent to BY with certain information. The adviser will need to do this, we cannot liaise on their behalf.
However in the interim, we can add in the adviser code into Xplan so it is ready.
Click XPLAN – Datafeed Functions – System Datafeeds
You will be taken to the Platform Summary Screen, showing the list of available datafeeds.
Scroll down to BT Wrap to see if it is active. You can ascertain that it is active as it gives you Disable or Edit options. There is no option to Activate as it is already active.
If however you have one that’s not active, then you will need to activate it AFTER you have added the adviser code in the next section.
Scroll back up.
Under Mappings click Advisers
Under Users, click the drop down arrow
Type in the name of the adviser (or part thereof) and click the magnifying glass
Click the Adviser you want to add the code too then click OK
On the top right click Add Mapping
Under Provider, choose the correct provider from the drop down (ie BT Wrap in this example)
Enter in the adviser code. You may need to refer back to the System Datafeed set up Addendum to ensure you have the code in the right format otherwise the datafeed won’t work. In this instance, the code must start with F followed by 7 digits
Click Save
You will be returned to the External Adviser Mappings screen, however the User will default back to you. Click the drop down next to the user, change back to the User you added the code for as per previous steps.
You will now see the code has been added
Once a datafeed has been established, it can take up to 48hours for the data to start flowing into Xplan. Some providers, it will appear within minutes, some overnight.
Once you have added the code, and all the other requirements have been met (ie in the BT Wrap example, the adviser has emailed BT Wrap, BT Wrap have confirmed back that the datafeed has been set up) you will need to refresh the adviser code
To do this, click on the dropdown arrow next to the Adviser code and click Refresh Data
The following pop up will appear. Leave the options as per the default. Then click OK.
Monitor the datafeed to ensure it works. To do this on the left hand side click Mappings – IPS External Accounts (for Investment feeds) or Mappings – Client Focus Accounts (for Insurance feeds)
Now set your filters to what you want to see, ie Adviser and Provider. Also change Listing Option to List All.
In my BT Wrap example above, there will be no data as this is just test adviser codes I added:
However using a real adviser here’s what it will look like. You can see there are Accounts and Clients under the Search Results. This indicates the feed is working.
