How to identify manual transactions in a Datafeed
Manual transactions include the purchase or sale of units of a particular holding, which have been created by an individual user, rather than originating through the datafeed. These extra transactions can cause the account balance to not reconcile with the provider, and cause account balances to display incorrectly in the portfolios IPS area of XPLAN.
How to identify manual transactions
Step 1: Under the ‘Transactions’ menu of ‘Portfolios’ area of XPLAN (1), use the filter options to show the security you wish to analyse (2). Select the date range to since inception from the ‘Date Range’ options to show every transaction since the policy began (3).
Step 2: This will show a list of every transaction against the holding. To identify the manual holdings, click the cog wheel in the ‘Portfolio Transactions’ section, and then select ‘Temp. Table Config’.
Step 3: Within the table configuration, select the ‘Vendor name’ and ‘External ID’ options, then click Ok.
Step 4: This will add 2 extra columns to the transaction view. With this view, we can see that some transactions do not have any details under the ‘Vendor Name’ and ‘External ID’.
Step 5: In order to correct the information, these transactions need to removed in order to correct the feed. This can be achieved by selecting the incorrect transaction and selecting ‘Remove Transaction’.
